When it comes to the fourth-generation Skoda Superb, there’s no doubt it has leaped over all expectations in terms of design and functionality, positioning skoda way up in a more premium end under Volkswagen group. Although Performance and Efficiency refined
The new Superb is also offered with updated four-cylinder engines, plus mild-hybrid tech for the 1.5-liter petrol. Skoda will also please diesel lovers with an ongoing commitment to fuel economy. The DSG gearbox does feel a bit hesitant at low speeds but excels on the open road, driving decently. VW has done a good job of balancing ride quality around the comfort/stability spectrum with DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) Plus adaptive suspension for max control over the Volkswagen Novitec Scirocco II tuning unit.
Aerodynamics and Design
Skoda claims the details of their polished design serve to improve the aerodynamics of the Superb. Featuring a wind tunnel-honed drag coefficient as low as 0.23 in some configurations, the car is intended for smooth sailing through narrow streets and twisting country lanes alike. The styling remains elegant and restrained with its well-defined surfaces, minimal chrome, and a more civlized front end borrowed from Skoda’s Enyaq EV.
A Competitive Edge
Because there are fewer large estates available, the Superb is facing competition from SUVs than other estate cars. The very reason it’s so appealing is due to it being functional, stylish and packed with tech features for the price.
Prices start from $45,978.0 (£36,175) for Skoda’s Superb estate nails the all-important spheres of pragmatism and refinement as well better than any car in this list – fantastic given the starting position of its rivals that have a stronger premium feel today.
