When announced, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD set a time of 6:57.685 at the Nürburgring. They weren’t just happy with the results despite becoming the first production car made in America to break the seven-minute barrier that held the GTD.

The automaker confirmed plans to return for another round, which they accomplished by making a new, better time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife of 6:52.072which is 5.5 seconds faster compared to Ford’s previous attempts.

According to Ford, the team working on the GTD had updated the powertrain calibration and also stiffened up the chassis, using up more torsional rigidity; they reworked the ABS and traction control behavior and redefined the aerodynamic elements.

Like in the first lap, Ford had a factory driver, Dirk Müller. From his first lap, he landed the GTD fifth fastest among top-produced sports cars, which lapped on the Nürburgring. The GTD hasn’t yet officially entered production, and it will start in spring at the price of $300,000.
