The Tesla Robotaxi/Cybercab is a two-door, electric, self-driving седан that offers room for two passengers. The car is fully autonomous, with no steering wheel or pedals. The power is drawn from a 35 kWh battery, which is estimated to give the Robotaxi about 200 miles (320 km) of range on a full charge.
The concept version of Cybercab was unveiled in October 2024 along with the Tesla Cybervan, which we didn’t see get mentioned at the current launch. The previous Cybercab concept version, about 20 prototypes, provided short rides to attendees at the announcement event. On June 22, 2025, Tesla deployed a few self-driving taxis to pick up passengers in Austin, Texas.
Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk announced the Robotaxi launch, and it was followed by social media influencers posting first-time ride videos on the car, paying a $4.20 flat fee.
The brand is expected to compete with various autonomous, self-driving taxi companies like Waymo, which is owned by Google, and Amazon’s Zoox.
Что касается безопасности, Национальная администрация безопасности дорожного движения США (NHTSA) все еще изучает информацию Tesla о беспилотных такси, в основном о том, как в плохую погоду оно будет обращаться с пассажирами максимально безопасным образом.
