Overview

The Maserati GT2 Stradale is for those who want to embrace the thrill of racing while driving on the street. This model gets an incredible 640 hp and some serious downforce, making it as close to a street-legal track Maserati as you can get. Unveiled at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering as part of the 2024 Monterey Car Week, Maserati’s GT2 Stradale is a nod to the brand’s past and its resolve toward future performance.

Design

Maserati

The design of the GT2 Stradale is pure racing-inspired and mimics the MC20 GT2 race car with some added aerodynamic and styling elements. Maserati’s Stradale features a carbon fiber monocoque and is 132 pounds lighter than the MC20, while also adding aerodynamic elements such as an aero hood, louvered fenders for air extraction, an active rear wing, and a rear diffuser. Combined, these features generate in excess of a massive 1,000 pounds of downforce to keep the car on stable footing even at high speeds. The exterior is available in various colors, with a particularly eye-catching one being Maserati’s exclusive Fuoriserie customization program choice of Powder Nude Texturized—a beautiful blend of bronze and gold reminiscent of the setting sun.

Interior

In the GT2 Stradale, race-ready but also luxury-imbued features help ensure every outing—whether on-track or off—will have you saying “wow.” Inside, it features carbon-fiber racing seats draped in blue Alcantara with blue accents used throughout. Sonus Faber provides the high-end audio experience, but again, controls are minimal—just for primary functions including drive modes and volume—to retain a spartan sense of Goth. Everything else is done through the infotainment system, which may be a turn-off for some purists some of the time but is still an essential part of modern driving.

Entertainment and Technology

Maserati

Based on Maserati’s comprehensive entertainment system, it is made to simplify control by designating various features into a single interface. That won’t go over well with tactile button lovers, which are many, especially when it comes to things like navigation. The GT2 Stradale isn’t totally devoid of tech, though, as it can be equipped with a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot alerts. Putting advanced features that are perfectly usable for daily usability but still give you the performance-centric DNA it delivers.

Power and Performance

Beneath the skin, the GT2 Stradale features a 640-hp 3.0L twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission. Not just any setup, mind you, as this supercharged V8 rips through 060 in under 2.8 seconds while top speed exceeds 201 mph. Combined with the aerodynamic shape, a suspension system that could also only be solid-built and properly tuned guarantees good handling and stability even at very high speeds, making it competitive on the track or just in performance road driving.

Pricing and Packages

The official price of the GT2 Stradale hasn’t been announced, but it is likely to fall between the Maserati MC20’s $242,995 and the GT2 race car’s $522,000. A list of optional packages lets buyers customize their experience:

Carbon Packs for Interior and Exterior: Carbon fiber partnered with the class-standard instrument cluster, doorsills, and rear diffuser adds a touch of showman while also giving chase to the car’s racing roots.

ADAS Pack: For greater safety, security, and peace of mind, it adds features such as automated emergency braking (AEB) and a 360-degree camera.
Performance Pack and Performance Package Plus The Performance Pack cars get Michelin semi-slick tires, an adjustable LSD, carbon-ceramic brakes, special forged wheels, and louvered fenders made of carbon fiber. The Performance Pack Plus takes it to another level with a harness bar, fire extinguisher, and four-point blue seat belts for real track junkies.

Conclusion

For a street-ready high-performance Maserati GT2 Stradale, it should be extra special indeed. Maserati’s not abandoning its racing heritage, but they’re clearly taking a modern approach with the MC20 and now also with the GT2. It’s a Maserati that’s meant to make an impression, and with its mix of power, opulence, and street legality, the GT2 Stradale is such a substantial step-up for the Modena marque. Only time will tell, but this car can set the tone of Maserati’s future—and we look forward to seeing more.
