Mercedes-Benz has launched a new variant  Mercedes-AMG C63 S E model that features a radically different engine. The C63 is a hybrid beast that combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce a whopping 671 horsepower. To help mitigate turbo lag, the downsized engine uses an electrically powered turbocharger system similar to the one found in Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 race car.

The AMG C63’s battery system provides a bit of electric boost to aid performance or enable quiet commuting. It is estimated that the 4.8-kWh battery pack is good for only about 6 miles of electric driving, but it can be charged either by being plugged into a charging station or a power outlet.

The C63’s interior looks much like a standard C-class and the junior AMG C43 model. It has sporty and unique upholstery, stitching patterns, and AMG-branded sports seats with cutouts that help save weight. Much hasn’t been detailed yet, but we expect plenty of luxury and convenience items to be available, including a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled seats, four-zone automatic climate control, and more.

For infotainment and connectivity, this Mercedes-Benz model comes with a large 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen that is integrated into the center console and tilted slightly towards the driver. A 12.3-inch digital display will also likely be standard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should both be standard for wireless connectivity, and a high-end Burmester stereo system is expected to be available too.

Safety and driver assistance features

The C63 will offer a host of standard driver-assistance features, but unfortunately, the car’s coolest tech, which includes an adaptive cruise-control system that utilizes navigation data to adjust the vehicle’s speed for upcoming curves and roundabouts, will probably remain an optional upgrade.
