Years back when you could ask me about Xiaomi, I just knew them as manufacturers of budget smartphones and smart home equipment. Now the manufacturer has been working on manufacturing electric cars, and one of them is the SU7, which is in the Grand Turismo.

The SU7 paved the way to the brand’s new Vision Gran Turismo, which is a sleek two-door electric hypercar that is now built for the digital circuits of Gran Turismo (Grand Turismo 7 video game), which is widely ranked to be the best racing simulator out there.

The Xiaomi Vision GT follows in the footsteps of the Xiaomi SU7 and is now China’s first Vision GT car, joining companies like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche, thanks to Kazunori Yamauchi, the man behind the Gran Turismo video game, who invited Xiaomi to join the project.

According to the automaker, the Vision GT is based on a 900-volt silicon carbide platform and is shaped by the wind, which implies that every part of the body was designed for aerodynamics.

The other impressive thing about this car is its teardrop cockpit, which looks like a jet fighter, with two seats including a “cocoon-shaped sofa” for the driver’s seat, a Formula 1-like steering yoke accommodating several knobs and screens, and its integration with a panoramic display sitting at the bottom of the windshield.

On the design, the Xiaomi Vision GT doesn’t have flashy aero bits, but it was built in the car’s flowing shape, getting the name “built by the wind.” When air is cut from the front, it’s guided with the cross headlights to the massive venturi tunnels and front air-channel intakes just below it. The air helps cool the 900V electric powertrain and the carbon-ceramic braking system, also playing a major role in creating downforce and maintaining stability.

The car will wear the Vision GT badge, and the company has managed to convince over 40 other companies to bring their bespoke concept into the virtual gaming scene. The Xiaomi Vision GT will join the list of cars in Grand Turismo 7 soon. Players will be capable of experiencing it virtually, and it’s now on show at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.
