  • Ferrari debuts its first-ever EV, a four-door five-seater designed with Jony Ive's agency that is drawing mixed reactions online for its styling.
  • Driven by four electric motors and a structural 122 kWh battery, it pushes out a massive 1,035 horsepower and hits 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds.
  • The cabin prioritizes tactile physical switchgear and modest screens, with European sales launching this year at roughly 550,000 euros.

Ferrari has unveiled its first-ever fully electric car called the Luce. Also know this: it’s their first car ever made that can accommodate up to five people, and it’s a four-door. Response from social media seems not good about its design, which seems to follow the way other EVs went. The 2027 Ferrari Luce was developed in conjunction with the former Apple design chief Jony Ive’s agency LoveFrom.

Previously, supercar manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini backed off from their EV plans, the reason being poor demand and stiff competition from Chinese brands. The development for Luce had taken decades, according to Ferrari chief executive Benedetto Vigna, and standing out is its performance: four electric motors at each wheel that’s fed by a 122 kWh gross battery pack that also acts as a structural element of the chassis. The new Ferrari EV features 800-volt architecture and charges at up to 350 kW.

The Luce Ev uses four synchronous permanent electric motors, with the front only producing less power than the rear. The front electric motor produces 282 horsepower, while the rear generates up to 831 horsepower.

Total power output isn’t direct but stands at 1035 horsepower, exceeding that of any other road-going Ferrari. The total range is estimated by Ferrari to be at 330 miles, while . Ferrari says that the Luce will reach 62 mph within 2.5 seconds, and with 6.8 seconds, it reaches 124 mph; the top speed is 192 mph. You can activate the launch mode via a pull handle in the overhead console, and adding on the purpose of it optimizing traction control, it can also provide an extra torque boost that adds an additional 54 horsepower.

Coming to its interior, you will notice a torque meter that’s above the speedometer, which serves the function of traditional Ferrari upshift indicator lights. It doesn’t contain much tech, and the screens are modest, and it includes plenty of physical switchgear. The center touchscreen serves the driver or passenger and can be pivoted on both sides.

At the back it fits three people; that makes it the first five-seat car ever made by Ferrari, and also the car features a back center console where rear-seat passengers have their own screen with toggle switches. The rear doors are rear-hinged, and it features the biggest trunk ever found in a Ferrari.
