Cybertruck Production in Texas to Wind Down as Tesla Shifts Focus

Through his X account, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted that the production of Cybertrucks will come to an end next year to make room for the production of Cybercab.

The Cybertruck was introduced by Tesla back as a 2024 model year, but its sales seemed to have a steep decline. In Musk’s post, he wrote, “Tesla will be winding down production of the Cybertruck at Gigafactory Texas around the middle of next year to make room for increased Cybercab production.”

This points to Tesla only producing the 2027 model year Cybertruck, which will be the last to run on the production line. Although we can’t tell, there might be a possibility that production will move somewhere else.

Earlier, Elon Musk predicted annual sales of 250,000 units to be produced annually, but those figures seem to have fallen short. Just in 2024, Tesla sold 38,965 Cybertrucks, and in 2025, the figures reduced to 20,237 units sold. 2026 became worse than before, with the figures trending downward, with only 11,586 Cybertrucks being sold through the first quarter.

The decision to end the production of the Tesla Cybertruck at Gigafactory Texas was to make room for building more of its self-driving Cybercab cars, which will use the technology that’s in the Cybertruck.
