Mercedes-AMG Concept GT XX
The Concept AMG GT XX is a sleek four-door electric sports sedan that sets a new benchmark for AMG performance. Its fastback silhouette and vivid “Sunset Beam” orange paint recall Mercedes’s legendary C111 experimental coupe. It is powered by three axial-flux electric motors that together produce around 1,340 horsepower, targeting a top speed above 360 km/h (about 223 mph). This blend of retro-inspired design and cutting-edge EV technology previews AMG’s next-generation hyper-sedan.

AMG’s first electric hyper-sedan is built on an 800-volt architecture with two combined drive units. Two motors are located at the rear and one at the front, creating an advanced all-wheel-drive system. Mercedes claims the concept will sprint from 0 to 124 mph in about five seconds and exceed 223 mph top speed. The power flows through massive 21-inch aerodynamic wheels with movable covers: panels on the rims open for brake cooling or even harvest some energy from airflow. The car is also built for ultra-fast charging: it can accept up to 850 kW, adding roughly 400 km of range in about five minutes.

Bespoke high-performance battery technology is key to the GT XX. Its new pack is built around tall, thin cylindrical cells placed in laser-welded aluminum cases. This housing improves heat and electrical conduction, so each cell can be cooled quickly. A special non-conductive oil flows around the cells for thermal management. Over 3,000 cells sit under the floor, enabling sustained high power output and extra-fast charging. Using a high-energy NCMA+silicon chemistry (about 300 Wh/kg), the battery is designed to add roughly 400 km of range in about five minutes.

AMG’s designers combined futuristic cues with functional aerodynamics on the GT XX’s body. The concept sedan measures about 5.2 m long and just 1.3 m high, giving it a long, low profile. Its hood and sides have active vents and splitters, plus a pop-up rear air brake for stability at speed. These features help it achieve an ultra-low 0.198 drag coefficient for a car of its size. On the sides, electroluminescent panels light up to indicate the battery’s charge status. At the rear, six circular taillights flank a full-width AMG LED light strip (over 700 LEDs) that can display animations or messages.

The interior of the GT XX is high-tech and minimalist, built around a visible crossbeam structure and exposed wiring to highlight its electric underpinnings. The seats have carbon-fiber shells and slim cushions made of “Labfiber” – a leather-like fabric spun from recycled racing tires. Traditional door handles are replaced with bright orange fabric straps. The steering wheel is a flat rectangular “yoke” from an AMG One hypercar, connected via steer-by-wire (no physical column). Black, silver, and orange accents give the cabin a modern, sporty look.

All of this makes the GT XX a bold example of AMG innovation. Mercedes says a production version will arrive soon, promising to challenge rivals like the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air. With more than 1,340 hp and a 223+ mph top speed, plus features like integrated headlight speakers and animated LED light panels, the concept signals AMG’s commitment to electric super-sedans. In short, the Concept AMG GT XX wraps hypercar-level power and cutting-edge technology into a luxury four-door package, pointing the way toward Mercedes-AMG’s electrified future.
