Honda Racing Corporation has revealed its first race car, the Prelude GT500, which is based on the form of the Prelude road car. This new race car will be competing at the 2026 Super GT season, where it will be replacing the Civic Type R GT.
The prelude prototype ran its test yesterday, the 1st of October, preparing earlier for the season. The prelude GT 500 Super GT will race in the Super GT series against cars like the Toyota GR Supra GT500 and the Nissan Nismo GT500.

It portrays the looks of the road car it’s based on (Honda Prelude), and it will come as a replacement for the Civic Type R GT, which seems to be underperforming. The Civic Type R arrived earlier in 2024, which also did replace another car known as the NSX GT.

The Civic was underperforming, and the four-door layout posed a significant design limitation, leading Honda to switch to the Prelude, which the Honda racing team has in mind that it will allow them to achieve top goals.
