The Panoramic iDrive from BMW changes in-car technology with its futuristic panoramic display that stretches across the dashboard. Autopilot then takes over and begins to guide your vehicle through the most efficient route toward this destination In addition, the display also features some other unique and innovative functions, keeping critical information in the eye line of the driver, enhancing both safety and convenience.

A central touchscreen further facilitates intuitive controls, while an optional 3D heads-up display projects navigation and assistance cues in real-time onto the windshield.

Plus, the steering wheel gets a functional upgrade as it now offers haptic feedback, making it possible for drivers to access controls without averting their eyes from the road. The brain behind this is BMW Operating System X which is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). It consists of intelligent personal assistant software with advanced language models to model human-like communication.

First shown in the BMW Neue Klasse Concept in 2023, the Panoramic iDrive will debut with the Neue Klasse models in fall 2025. Details about the first model to be equipped with this system are still under wraps, although BMW has stated all future models will get the system, regardless of the powertrain being electric or gasoline-based.

This pioneering infotainment system demonstrates BMW’s drive for innovation, user-oriented design, and driving the experience to a new level. As the iDrive Panoramic system sets the bar for in-cabin tech, BMW once again finds itself leading the charge of innovation in the automotive space.
