  • 887-hp Supercharged V8: Hand-built 5.2-liter engine delivers race-level performance with a manual transmission.
  • Carbon-Fiber Construction: Lightweight LMP1-inspired chassis enables a 0–60 mph sprint in under 3 seconds.
  • Ultra-Exclusive Production: Only 19 units to be built, priced from $3.15 million, with global distribution.

The 01 Zagato is one of the ultra-driver-focused creations of Germany’s Capricorn Group. They have been involved in the development of engine components for car models, such as Bugatti’s Veyron, and in crafting car bodies with aerodynamic design.

The coachbuilder collaborated with renowned companies, creating sleek lines in the Capricorn 01 Zagato and also incorporating an American V8 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The history of craftsmanship runs deeper in the Capricorn; they have been involved in crafting special vehicles from the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato to the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale. Also, they are involved in supplying their lightweight components in the motorsports arena, as teams such as Porsche in LMP1, Peugeot Sports in Le Mans and Dakar, and Mercedes and Lotus, among a few others unmentioned, also do.

Exterior and Performance

Coming up to its exterior, Zagato was involved in designing the body, giving it a sleek look, while engineering work was conducted by Capricorn. This enabled them to create something that focuses on driver engagement.

Double bubble roof, sculpted fenders, and almond-shaped headlights give it a Zagato signature look, while the side profile brings a bit of Ford GT looks, wraparound glass with only one wiper brings a Koenigsegg aspiration, and slim LED taillamps match Rimac’s minimalism.

In the body, you will find a supercharged Ford V8 engine, which is a 5.0-liter engine. This is before Capricorn did some engineering work to increase the displacement to 5.2 liters. They added the blower, reprogrammed its ECU, and added a new crankshaft, new rods, and a piston, and the intake, exhaust, and dry sump lubrication were all done for increased performance.

It’s a rear-wheel drive and uses a dogleg five-speed manual transmission, giving out an output of 887 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. The total revs of the engine go up to 9000 rpm.

The rear subframes and the center tub are all crafted from carbon fiber, a design inspired by the LMP1 prototype at the endurance race cars. The whole car weighs below 2645 pounds thanks to its carbon fiber body. This gives the Zagato 01 a sweet 0 to 60 mph, which goes under 3.0 seconds, and a top speed of 223 mph.

It has an electric power-assisted steering setup; this aids the driver in maneuvering well at low speed, and it disconnects itself at higher velocities. Another feature is that it’s available in 21-inch wheels, either in alloy or carbon fiber, hiding Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.

To create downforce with the absence of large wings, the Capricorn opts to create one via the floor of the car, and it’s aided by a front splitter and rear diffuser. It also got a set of gullwing doors to provide plenty of looks of a hypercar.

Classic Mimical Interior

The interior was designed by Capricorn with an analog centerpiece cluster featured behind the leather-covered steering wheel, and dominating is a central rev counter. There is no infotainment system, but they have included a small display screen for the rear camera that retracts whenever needed.

You will also find a titanium and aluminum machined switch gear and its seats covered in leather accented by Alcantara trim. The seats are in a fixed position and have a four-point safety harness along with an adjustable steering wheel column and pedals. The gear lever can move 3.1 inches to the front and back; this helps the driver find a favorable position to drive.

Exclusivity and Production

The production is focusing on 19 units, each hand-built in Germany. It’s expected to be sold in the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Middle East, and Canada with a starting price of $3.15 million (€2.95 million).

Capricorn’s plan is to expand its Nürburgring facilities by 2026 to be able to increase production capacity, allowing it to handle production of up to 100 to 200 supercars and hypercars in a year.
