The 2026 Dodge Durango now drops the V6 engine and heads to use the Hemi engine. This comes after the Trump administration broke down the emissions regulations that saw many automakers switch to electric car production, hybridize, or downgrade their engines.

Earlier this year Dodge came out and said that the Durango Hellcat with its 710-horsepower supercharged engine would continue for one last year, and now the 2026 Durango SUVs will have a V8 muscle engine.

The previous Durango GT model was motivated by a 295-horsepower V6; now an additional 65 horsepower has been added after the engine bay got to host a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. The output power now stands at 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. The previous 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 had 260 pound-feet of torque. For the MPH times, Dodge claimed that from 0 to 60 MPH previously was accomplished in 7.4 seconds; now it only needs 6.2 seconds.

The R/T model previously packaged with a 5.7-liter Hemi engine gets upgraded to a 6.4-liter Hemi 392 V8 engine that provides 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque; about 115 horsepower and 80 pound-feet of torque are added.

The SRT Hellcat, the top range in the Durango lineup, packs a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, generates 710 horsepower, and has 645 pound-feet of torque. Dodge claims that the Hellcat model can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and the top speed is 180 mph.

For the pricing, the 2026 Dodge Durango will start at $44,490 depending on trim level, with the 2026 Durango GT priced at $44,490, which is a bit higher, with $4000 more than last year. The 2026 Durango R/T will start at $51,990, a close price to the 2025 model, and the top-range 2026 Durango Hellcat will be at $81,990, less $5000 than the previous 2025 model.

Orders are now open for the Durango GT and Hellcat and are expected to reach dealerships between October and December this year. Orders for the R/T model will begin later this year.
