Almost 568,576 Hyundai Palisade SUVs are being recalled for a problem with the third-row side curtain airbags failing to deploy and keep the passenger safe in a crash. From the documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall covers Palisade models manufactured between 2020 and 2025 and seems to be the same Palisade that was also on a previous recall because of seatbelt-related issues last year in September.

According to the recall document, the Palisade sidebars may fail to secure third-row passengers’ heads during the crash. NHTSA had notified Hyundai that a 2025 Palisade model failed to keep the safety dummy in the third row from continuous and long movement after a routine compliance test that happened between April and December 2025.

Several more compliance test routines were done by Hyundai and NHTSA before determining the third-row vulnerability of deploying side curtain airbags.

The automaker is developing a fix for the faulty rear airbags, and once the solution becomes available, affected owners will be notified by Hyundai with the instructions of how and when they will go to their local dealership to have the remedy performed and also cover the money used by owners who tried to secure a fix for the problem. Concerned owners who would like to check if it’s on the recall list can check on the NHTSA website with their vehicle’s VIN.
