KIA America is recalling about 568 2027 Telluride Hybrid models with the power seat-related issue, which could not detect any obstruction and still move during its function, increasing the risks of injuries to those close or in the seats.

According to the document from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain Telluride Hybrid models, the SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige, were equipped with the optional Executive Package manufactured from February 2nd, 2026, to March 13th, 2026. 568 units in total could have a problem with the power second-row seats, which could continue moving even if an obstruction or someone is in place.

The risky part is when an occupant is in the seat or entering or exiting from the rear seats of the vehicle while the power folding operation is still underway; it may cause serious injuries and at points leads to death. The cause of the malfunctioning is still under review, and there isn’t identification of any warning that can occur.

The population of the recall was determined by a review of Kia vehicle production records, and the vehicles subjected to the recall were not produced in VIN records. For now those who will be seeking information about their specific vehicle being the subject of the recall are advised to contact Kia’s Customer Care Center or their closest Kia dealership center.

The remedy for the power second-row seats is still under development, and Kia advises their customers to ensure children aren’t in the rear seats or second rear seating area during the time the power-folding process is still underway; also, they should avoid inadvertent pressing of the power second-row switches.

The automaker stopped sending dealer notifications beginning from March 20, 2026, which ended the same day. The owner will be notified of the interim starting April 6, 2026, while the planned remedy will get notified as of May 19, 2026, ending the same day.
